init wins tender for major project in Denver/USA

Karlsruhe/Chesapeake, 18 March 2011. INIT Innovations in Transportation, Inc., a fully owned subsidiary of init innovation in traffic systems AG, has won a tender issued by the Regional Transportation District (RTD) of Denver, Colorado, to supply a fully integrated Computer-Aided Dispatch/Automatic Vehicle Location (CAD/AVL) System and an Integrated Replacement Voice and Data Radio System to the District’s transit system. The contract has now been signed.

The contract value amounts to more than $30 million USD. In addition to the setup of an automated vehicle management system, INIT will also equip the entire fleet of about 1,000 buses with on-board computers and passenger information systems. The system will include automatic location service for approximately 150 additional support/security vehicles and circa 370 support personnel with GPS enabled portable radios. In addition, INIT will supply new digital voice radios for nearly 170 light rail vehicles and more than 320 paratransit vehicles.

After a successful automated passenger counting system installation in 2002, INIT looks forward to a continued and successful relationship with RTD. The new project will strengthen INIT’s position in the North American market while reinforcing our mission to provide our customers with faster, safer and more efficient public transit services.
