Sharp increase in first half-year result

In the first half of 2009, due to increased sales profits of init innovation in traffic systems AG (ISIN DE0005759807) rose at a proportionately faster rate. This satisfactory business trend of the global leader in telematics and electronic fare payment systems for buses and trams continued on from the first quarter to generate sales between April and the end of June 2009 of EUR 14.2M, some 10% higher than in the comparable prior-year period (EUR 12.8M). By the end of June, init achieved a cumulative turnover of EUR 23.8M, up by around 12% on the previous year (EUR 21.3M), with some 74.3% (previous year: 76.5%) attributable to foreign business.

init receives first contract in New Zealand

INIT has managed to break into a new market winning its first request for proposal in New Zealand. The Karlsruhe-based telematics specialist has been selected to provide over 300 vehicles of four bus companies in and around the city of Christchurch on New Zealand’s South Island with EVENDpc, the integrated on-board computer and electronic ticket printer. The system will also integrate two point of sale locations and a ferry.

First-quarter revenue and earnings above plan

INIT is reporting a successful start to the year 2009. As of 31 March 2009, the group had generated cumulative revenue of EUR 9.6 million (prior year: EUR 8.4 million). International activities accounted for approximately 70.8 percent (prior year: 78.1 percent) of this amount. The gross profit of EUR 2.8 million as of the end of March is also considerably higher than in the corresponding prior-year period (EUR 1.4 million). In the first quarter of 2009, init generated earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) amounting to EUR 0.9 million (prior year: EUR -0.8 million).

INIT Showcases DB Stadtverkehr Bayern at the UITP in Vienna

During the UITP in Vienna, INIT offers visitors the opportunity to see a huge part of their comprehensive product range. Besides a number of proven systems, the leading provider of telematics and electronic fare collection systems for public transport will show for the first time the complex ticketing system that INIT is currently implementing for four regional transportation companies of the DB Stadtverkehr in Bavaria. INIT also provides them with the multi-client fleet management system MOBILE-ITCS, with which more than 3.000 vehicles will soon be controlled by a single standardized system.

init Managing Board proposes increase in dividend

init innovation in traffic systems AG (ISIN DE 0005759807) plans to pay shareholders a higher dividend this year. The Managing Board decided today to present the Supervisory Board with a proposal for appropriation of earnings to be put to the shareholders’ meeting which suggests a dividend of EUR 0.16 per entitled share (2007: EUR 0.14). This decision, however, is subject to the approval of the annual financial statements for the 2008 fiscal year and the consent of the Supervisory Board.

Kinkisharyo and DART expand contract with INIT

Following a recent decision by Dallas Area Rapid Transit, INIT has been awarded an additional contract to expand its Vehicle Business System (VBS), including INIT hardware and software by an additional 48 light rail vehicles. Kinkisharyo will install INIT’s on-board computer (COPILOTpc), mobile data terminals with built-in card readers, global positioning system (GPS) and GPRS data radio communication. Furthermore, INIT’s state-of-the-art automatic passenger counting system, MOBILE-APC will be implemented and subsequently provide DART with counting accuracy results of 96% or better.

GE Transportation LLC names INIT as subcontractor for Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District project

General Electric Transportation LLC has recently been awarded a contract to provide an Advanced Communication and Information System (ACIS) to the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District (District) in San Francisco, CA. INIT Innovations in Transportation Inc. in Chesapeake, Virginia, has been chosen as the subcontractor for the new Intermodal Transportation Control System (ITCS).

init continues to extend market position in the Netherlands

Technology and systems from init are more in demand than ever throughout the world. Further impressive proof of this comes in the form of an order for init from Rotterdam. In the city with the largest seaport in Europe, the telematics specialist based in Karlsruhe has been commissioned to integrate some 400 vehicles (129 trams, 226 buses and 41 service vehicles) of the city-owned transportation company RET (Rotterdamse Electrische Tram) into an init operations control system (Intermodal Transport Control System - ITCS). The project has a volume of several millions of euros and is already the third contract for init from the Netherlands, after the public transportation services in The Hague and the private transportation company Syntus.
