INIT Presents Innovative ITS Solutions at the Transport Innovations in Birmingham

During the Transport Innovations INIT, leading supplier of integrated telematics and fare management systems, presents advanced ITS technology assisting transportation companies in making public transport more attractive, faster and more efficient.

Known under the brand name MOBILE, INIT’s integrated hard- and software suit covers all tasks within public transportation and features e.g. fleet management, real-time passenger information, traffic signal priority, automatic passenger counting, scheduling software, an integrated suite of planning and optimising tools as well as smart card based ticketing schemes.

Accurate and Reliable Passenger Information
The accuracy of real time information is the key to success of any RTPI scheme. With MOBILE-STOPinfo INIT offers a Real Time Passenger Information (RTPI) solution based on 20 years of best practice and more than five years of experience in the UK. With MOBILE-EXCHANGE INIT's RTPI solutions can be enhanced to create an open real time platform for cities, counties and regions. Interfaces based on national and European standards (e.g. CEN/SIRI) enable authorities to collect real time and/or planning data from bus, tram and train operators or from neighbouring authorities. MOBILE-EXCHANGE pools this data and distributes it via different channels to the public.

Planning, Performance Monitoring and Analysis
Effective and integrated planning via MOBILE-PLAN is the core of every smart operation, because optimisation of service already starts with the planning process. Online monitoring with MOBILE-CAD/AVL provides control over the operation service. Automated methods support dispatchers in accomplishing operational measures e.g. achieving headway, managing detours, adding/omitting vehicles. Via modern telematics drivers are kept informed and instructed and operators gain real time information of their operations at any time, which they can share then via MOBILE-EXCHANGE.

Smart Ticketing
With EVENDsmart INIT provides a ticketing system for UK operators for cash and cashless payment, including on-board computer functions and a back office solution. Thereby smart card based electronic payment schemes according to the relevant standards can be set up smoothly. In addition, EVENDsmart allows seamless integration of Real Time Passenger Information Systems and offers the driver a unique graphical user interface for vending tickets and handling any other driver interaction.
